The 60th Annual Grammy Awards Best Moments!

January 29, 2018

This year’s Grammy Awards was so exciting for Rap and Rnb because their were so many of our favorite artist as nominees from Jay Z, Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Sza , Khalid , Cardi B , etc. We are going to share with you some of our favorite Grammy moments.

1. Kendrick Lamar’s opening performance

Rapper Kendrick  Lamar is known for his "woke" and powerful performances but yet he still surprises us with every stage he takes. Last night Lamar opened the 2018 Grammy's night with a few of his hit singles on his most recent album, DAMN. His great performance resulted in a standing ovation from the audience at Madison Square Garden and major praise on social media. At the end of the night Kendrick Lamar took home five Grammy awards!

2. Janelle Monae’s speech

During Janelle Monae's introduction to Kesha's performance she took the time to bring up the entertainment industry’s sexual harassment and misconduct issues.

“We come in peace, but we mean business. It’s not just going on in Hollywood, it’s not just going on in Washington, it’s right here in our industry as well,” she said. “And just as we have the power to shape culture, we also have the power to undo a culture that does not serve us well.”

Janelle Monae is a voice for all women around the world dealing with this issue!

3. Kesha's heartwarming performance

Kesha showed her support for the #MeToo movement as she performed "Praying" on the Grammy stage. Camila Cabello, Cyndi Lauper, Julia Michaels, Bebe Rexha and Andra Day joined Kesha on stage to sing her hit comeback song. Kesha's public support of #MeToo hits home  after years  in a legal battle with her former producer Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald. Kesha had alleged that the former producer had sexually, verbally and emotionally abused her. The performance ended with Kesha crying and hugging her fellow vocalists who stood by her side.

4. DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller’s Wild Thoughts Performance

DJ Khaled's hit single " Wild Thoughts" was such a big song in 2017 and we couldn't have the award show without this performance. It was great to see DJ Khaled , Rihanna and Bryson Tiller hit the Grammy's stage together performing such a big record.

5. Bruno Mars and Cardi B’s performance

Bruno Mars and Cardi B performing together was such a great moment for so many reasons. First, it was so  inspiring to see Cardi B hit the Grammy's stage for her first time. Cardi B's over night success is amazing. Not only is this her first time performing at the Grammy's but she got to hit the stage with the pop star Bruno Mars. Finesse is such a great feel good song.  This performance and collaboration will definitely  be remembered.

6. Lady Gaga performance

Lady Gaga hit the stage right after Kendrick Lamar's powerful performance. Gaga dedicated her performance to father's late sister Joanne and began sing songs from the 2016 Joanne album. She also performed "Million Reasons" at a white grand piano draped in massive angel wings, with Joanne producer Mark Ronson on guitar. Gaga showed off her powerful pipes on both songs, infusing emotion into every note.

7. Asahd Khaled red carpet appearance

DJ Khaled's son Asahd is America's sweetheart. We all love to see his cute face and smile on Instagram and everything that Khaled does. The father and son relationship is so refreshing to see. Check out his Grammy red carpet appearance below.

8. Fire and Fury Skit

About half way into the Grammy's a video was shared of several public figures and musicians in a hilarious skit mocking Donald Trump.

“Some people don’t know this, but you don’t always need to be a musician to win a Grammy. In fact, every year, the Recording Academy has honored the best spoken word album,” host James Corden mentioned to viewers.

“Over the years, the award has gone to some of the world’s most inspiring voices. Bill Clinton has won a Grammy. Barack Obama has won a Grammy. Hillary Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore — they all have Grammy's.

“We know that our current president does love winning awards, and the good news for him is he may just be the subject of next year’s winner,” Corden continued. “The question I’ve got is: Who will be the narrator?”

Cut to: A fake audition for the spoken word version of “Fire and Fury,” an explosive book by Michael Wolff that described chaos in the White House and reportedly infuriated Trump.

John Legend started things off by reading an excerpt. “Trump won’t read anything. He gets up halfway through meetings with world leaders because he is bored —” Watch below......

9. Blue Ivy’s Shade

We all loved seeing the Carter family in the crowd last night but one of our favorite moments is when Blue Ivy motioned her parents Jay-Z and Beyonce to relax and stop clapping as they applauded Camila Cabello‘s speech. Twitter had a field day with this and gif's were instantly made.

10. Cardi B and Hennessy Carolina red carpet moment

We've discussed rapper Cardi B's Grammy success but it was great to see Cardi share this special moment with her younger sister Hennessy Carolina.
