No matter your lifestyle, background, ethnicity, class, career, or sex we've all dealt with self esteem issues at some point in our lives. What I've realized over time is that you have to love yourself first before you expect someone to love you. No one can make you feel your absolute best more than yourself. You can't expect anyone to bring you that confidence it has to come from within. I know it's easier said than done but you have to work on yourself everyday. Leave positive affirmations on your mirror to remind yourself that you're beautiful and that you can conquer the world. You can't rely on anyone else to give you self worth.
Take time to do the things you truly love. It could be shopping, watching your favorite movies, doing your makeup, etc. For me, I love to pampering myself so I dedicate my Sunday's for self care. I do my favorite face, lip and eye masks and biweekly I get my nails and eyebrows done. These small things make me feel great. Do whatever you need to make yourself to feel amazing!
Another essential on your journey to self love is meditation. Take a few minutes out your day to relax your mind and calm your thoughts. I know for me all week I'm on the go and busy so it's important that I take those few moments for solitude. If you don't take that time out for yourself you will crash. Trust me you deserve this time for yourself.
This is a great mantra from Jhene Aiko that I use to meditate.
Lastly, stop apologizing for making yourself a priority! Sometimes you have to be selfish to protect your mental health. Before you can be the best for anybody you have to be the best for YOU. This is still something I have to remind myself. If someone in your life is bringing too much negative energy you have to step back and reflect on how this is impacting you. NO ONE is excluded from a wellness break. Don't be afraid to tell your friends and family that they overwhelm you. Let them know that you need time away from them. If they love you they will understand your wishes and work on how they approach you.
